Recent Updates and Features Added to SideVibe

  • Register Students Without Email Accounts
If your district doesn't allow for student use of email accounts you can still register them for SideVibe. The only caveat is that re-setting their password, if forgotten, will require the assistance of one of their current SideVibe teachers. Basic Account holders will be notified through their Account email address. Premium Account holders receive the request in their Message Center.

  • Using YouTube Video
When you include a link to a YouTube video, SideVibe will present the video in a 'quiet-space' for Students without YouTube's branding, commenting, viral videos, and distracting non-related search reuslts.

  • Save Your Web Pages in iCyte!
SideVibe has partnered with iCyte. We encourage teachers to join iCyte, it's free! Also this means that if you use iCyte to permanently save your Web pages you can also use your Teacher Companion to add them as Topic links. Simply login to your iCyte account, load the saved Web content, launch your Teacher Companion and click the "Add this Web Page My Library" button. Page annotation is the next step and planned for the near future.

  • Discussion Moderating
You can now Hide or Show Student posts. The Student posts will all still be viewable at their personal Topic Home Pages.

  • Automatically Send Your Topic Link's Whitelist to IT
Go to your Topics home page and select any Topic. Look to the Details Tab and you will see that there is a list of the Topics Links. Click the 'Email List Now' link and an auto-formatted email is created that you can address to your IT support resource so they can simply add these URLs to your school's Filtering White List.
